Day 1- Arrive Delhi
Arrive Delhi and meet the representative at the arrival hall. In
the afternoon proceed on a tour of the capital city, includes the
majestic Red Fort, Jama mosque, besides Raj Ghat and Shanti Vana.
In New Delhi pass from the Rashtrapati Bhawan, Parliament House,
the India Gate, Qutab Minar, and the lotus-shaped Baha’i Temple.
Overnight stay in hotel.
Day 2- Delhi – Agra
Morning drive for 4 hours to the City of Taj, en route visiting the
Akbar Tomb also known as Sikandra. Later proceed to The Taj Mahal,
which is entirely made of white marble and its walls are decorated
with exquisite pietra dura (stone inlay) work, take break with your
Lunch in five star hotel and proceed to Agra fort before depart to
Delhi. Overnight stay in hotel.
Day 3 - Agra - Fatehpur Sikri - Delhi Airport -
Chennai
After breakfast or checkout drive to the deserted town or Fatehpur
Sikri made of red sandstone city of yester years before depart to
airport Delhi for flight to Chennai at evening. Arriving at night
in Chennai pickup from airport and check in at
hotel, Overnight stay in Chennai.
Day 4 - Chennai
Tour
Visit Kapaleeswara temple, St. Thomas Church, Art Gallery, Fort St.
George and Marina beach. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 5 -Chennai - Kanchipuram -
Mahabalipuram
In the morning,
depart for Mahabalipuram. Visit Kanchipuram, once the Golden city
of India. En-route, visit the Shiv Kanchi and Vishnu Kanchi temples
there.
Continue your drive to Mahabalipuram. Arrive & check in at
hotel.
Day 6 - Mahabalipuram
Visit the 6-8th century Pallava rock-cut caves, Pancha Ratha
temples and the Black Pagoda – the 7th century shore temple where
both, Vishnu & Shiva are enshrined under one roof. Also, see
the soapstone workers in the market who design and make sculptures.
Visit to oldest Shore Temple- Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 7 - Mahabalipuram - Chidambaram -
Tanjore
In the morning, depart for Tanjore. Your first stop will be at
Chidambaram to visit the Golden Nat raja temple. Afterwards, drive
to Gangaikondacholapuram – the capital of the Cholas. Its major
attraction is the great Shiva temple. The specialty of the temple
is that the rays of the sun falling on Nandi (Shiva's bull)
reflects onto the Shiva lingam from sunrise to sunset. Next stop
will be at Kumbakonam water tank. The next stop is at the 13th
century Shiva temple at Darasuram. Finally, reach Tanjore. Arrive
and check in at hotel.
Day 8 - Tanjore - Trichy
In the morning, leave for a sightseeing tour of Tanjore. Visit
Brihadeeshwara (Shiva) Temple, built by the great king Raja raja I
Chola. This is one of the superb examples of architecture of the
Chola era. Afterwards, visit the Raja raja Art Gallery to see the
impeccable bronze statues of 9-16th century. Return back to the
hotel for lunch. After some rest, drive to Trichy. Arrive &
check in at Hotel. Visit the fortress-like Srirangam Vishnu Temple
which has 21 huge spires. Afterwards, visit the Rock Fort. A 344
step-climb takes you 83 meters to the summit, which has a Puranic
Vinayaka temple. Overnight stay in at hotel.
Day 9 - Trichy -
Madurai
In the morning,
depart for Madurai. Arrive and check in at Hotel Taj Garden Retreat
or similar hotel. In the afternoon visit 1the 6th century
Thirumalai Nayakar Palace. Afterwards, visit the Meenakshi temple –
the biggest in India. The temple has two main shrines dedicated to
the goddess Parvati as Meenakshi and the other to Sundarar (Shiva).
The domes of both the shrines are covered with heavy gold plates.
You can also see the Hall of Thousand Pillars built in the 16th
century, where many poetic events took place.
Return to hotel for overnight stay.
Day 10 - Madurai - Chennai
Morning super fast train 06.30 am arriving Chennai 14.30 pm - Later
departure to Chennai airport for onward journey.
